There are over 160 Native American Indian tribes in North America, from the
Abenaki to the Zuni. Abenaki, pronounced AB-eh-nah-kee, means "those living
at the sunrise" or "people of the dawn." They are a Northeast tribe from
Maine. Zuni, pronounced ZOO-nee, are Southwest Native American Indians. They
are also called Pueblo Indians because they live in pueblos, apartment like
homes made from adobe bricks.
